Indications
Momento is designed to alleviate symptoms associated with both seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including:
- Sneezing
- Nasal discharge and itching
- Nasal congestion or stuffiness
- Ocular itching, tearing, and redness
- Itching of the palate
- Coughing
Additionally, Momento provides relief from symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria, helping to reduce itching and diminish the size and number of hives.
Pharmacology
Momento contains Desloratadine, a potent, non-sedating, long-acting tricyclic antihistamine. As the principal active metabolite of Loratadine, Desloratadine selectively targets H1-receptors to block histamine activity and inhibit histamine release from human mast cells.
Dosage & Administration
For Pediatric Drops:
- Children 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily
- Children 1-2 years: 2.5 ml once daily
For Syrup:
- Children 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily
- Children 1-5 years: 2.5 ml once daily
- Children 6-11 years: 5 ml once daily
- Adults & Children over 12 years: 10 ml once daily
For Tablets:
- Adults & Children 12 years and older: 1 tablet daily

No significant drug interactions have been identified with Momento.
Contraindications
Momento is contraindicated for individuals with hypersensitivity to Desloratadine, Loratadine, or any other components of the medication.

- Dizziness
- Pharyngitis
- Dyspepsia
- Myalgia
Pregnancy & Lactation
Momento is classified as Pregnancy Category C. Its safety during pregnancy has not been well-established; therefore, it should only be used if absolutely necessary. Desloratadine does transfer into breast milk, so a decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or to discontinue the medication, considering the benefits to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
For patients with liver or renal impairment, a reduced dosage of one 5 mg tablet every other day is recommended based on pharmacokinetic data. Caution is advised for individuals with a history of seizures.
Use in Special Populations
Momento is generally recommended for use in children and adolescents.
Overdose Effects
No clinically significant adverse effects have been reported following an overdose.
