Indications
Metaspray Nasal Spray is indicated for treating nasal symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in adults and pediatric patients aged 2 years and older. It is also prescribed for prophylaxis of nasal symptoms in adult and adolescent patients aged 12 years and older during the allergy season. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of nasal polyps in patients aged 18 years and older.
Pharmacology
Mometasone Furoate monohydrate, a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties, is the active ingredient. Its precise mechanism of action is not fully understood but involves modulating various cell types and mediators involved in inflammation.
Dosage
For adults and children over 12 years, the recommended dose is two sprays (50 mcg each) in each nostril once daily for allergic rhinitis. Children aged 2 to 11 years should use one spray (50 mcg each) in each nostril once daily. Adults aged 18 years and older with nasal polyps should use two sprays (50 mcg each) in each nostril twice daily.
Administration
Shake the bottle gently, remove the dust cover, and prime the pump if using it for the first time or after a week of non-use. Gently blow the nose, insert the nasal applicator into one nostril, and spray while inhaling through the nose. Repeat for the other nostril. Clean the nasal spray once a week by removing the dust cover, pulling off the nasal applicator, washing them, and letting them air dry.
