Description

Indications:

Description:

Melato is a hormone produced by the pineal gland that regulates hormones and maintains circadian rhythm. It responds to light intensity, daily changes in light/dark cycles, and seasonal variations. Melato influences sleep, controls timing of female reproductive hormones, and acts as a potent antioxidant to strengthen the immune system.

Pharmacology:

Melato binds to MT1 and MT2 receptors in the brain and peripheral organs, increasing serotonin, GABA, and decreasing dopamine levels to induce and sustain sleep while regulating circadian rhythm.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Adults: For insomnia, 3-6 mg one hour before bedtime.
  • Jet Lag: 0.5 to 5 mg before bedtime at destination or 1 to 5 mg before bedtime for 2 days prior to departure and upon arrival.
  • Sarcoidosis: 20 mg/day for 4-12 months.
  • Depression: 0.125 mg twice daily.
  • Children (6 months to 14 years): For sleep disorders, 0.3 mg/day.

Interaction:

Melato interacts with antidepressants, antipsychotics, benzodiazepines, blood pressure medications, anticoagulants, NSAIDs, steroids, immunosuppressants, tamoxifen, caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, cocaine, and amphetamines.
