Indications
This medication is recommended for alleviating symptoms associated with dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, gastroesophageal reflux, and hiatal hernia. It’s also prescribed for hyperacidity related to peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis. Magaldrate may be administered to children if necessary and is effective in relieving flatulence, abdominal distension, and windy colic.
Pharmacology
Combining magaldrate and simethicone, this medication acts swiftly to neutralize gastric acid without excessively elevating the pH level. Magaldrate decreases pepsin activity in gastric secretion, while simethicone aids in the coalescence of gas bubbles, providing relief from flatulence.
