Description

Indications

Lucazol Cream is prescribed for the topical treatment of fungal infections such as interdigital tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea corporis (ringworm), caused by fungi like Trichophyton rubrum and Epidermophyton floccosum.
Take medication as directed by a registered healthcare professional.

Pharmacology

Luliconazole is a potent, broad-spectrum antifungal from the azole class, designed for topical application. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the enzyme lanosterol demethylase, disrupting ergosterol production, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes. This leads to the effective elimination of fungal pathogens. Luliconazole demonstrates strong fungicidal activity, both in lab and clinical settings, against various dermatophytes, including Candida albicans, Malassezia spp., Trichophyton spp., and Epidermophyton spp.

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Elderly:

  • Interdigital tinea pedis: Apply Lucazol Cream once daily to the affected area and extend the application 1 inch beyond the infection, continuing treatment for two weeks.
  • Tinea cruris and tinea corporis: Apply once daily to the infected region and the surrounding 1-inch area for one week.

Children:

The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established.
Use medication as per the advice of a registered healthcare provider.

Contraindications

Lucazol Cream should not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity to luliconazole or any of its components.

Side Effects

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is limited research on the use of Lucazol Cream in pregnant women. It should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the unborn child. It is not known whether luliconazole passes into breast milk; therefore, caution is advised when applying Lucazol Cream during breastfeeding.
