Indications
Ophthalmic Solution: This lubricating eye drop is designed to alleviate tear deficiency resulting from:
- Impaired tear production
- Functional disorders caused by either topical or systemic conditions
- Incomplete or deficient eyelid closure
Ophthalmic Gel: This long-lasting eye gel, enriched with Carbomer 980, provides effective lubrication for patients experiencing ocular discomfort. Its slight hypotonic nature is quickly balanced by the slightly hypertonic tear fluid that occurs with dry eyes.
Pharmacology
Hypromellose is a semisynthetic, inert, viscoelastic polymer utilized as an ophthalmic lubricant. It serves as both a lubricant and an artificial tear, effectively treating dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva due to impaired tear secretion, functional disorders from various diseases, or issues stemming from incomplete eyelid closure.
Dosage & Administration
Ophthalmic Solution: The treatment of dry eye syndrome should be tailored to each individual.
- For 0.3% Hypromellose, the typical dosage is 1 drop in the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times daily, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
- The dosage for 0.5% Hypromellose may vary. Please follow your doctor’s recommendations.
Ophthalmic Gel: Administer 1 or 2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) as necessary. The frequency of use will depend on the severity of your symptoms, generally averaging 1 drop 1-3 times daily. If required, Hypromellose can be used more frequently.
Always use medication as directed by your physician.
