Indications
Lubric D is designed to provide lubrication and act as an artificial tear for individuals suffering from dry eyes and various ocular irritation syndromes linked to insufficient tear or mucus production. It effectively prevents corneal damage in patients with keratoconjunctivitis and serves as a protective lubricant for the eyes. Additionally, it offers temporary relief from burning and irritation caused by dry eyes, shielding against further discomfort.
Pharmacology
The combination of Dextran and Hypromellose in these eye drops mimics natural tears, delivering soothing relief for dry, itchy, burning, and irritated eyes. This formulation keeps the eyes moist and healthy while offering protection against additional irritation. The unique blend of ingredients works synergistically to maintain moisture on the eye’s surface and reduce tear film evaporation.
Hypromellose enhances corneal hydration by stabilizing and thickening the precorneal tear film, thereby extending the tear film breakup time, which is often reduced in dry eye conditions. It also lubricates and safeguards the eye. Dextran, a complex branched glucan with variable chain lengths, is recognized for its medicinal applications, including as an antithrombotic agent to lower blood viscosity and as a volume expander in cases of hypovolemia.
