Indications
Ispergul is recommended for:
- Alleviating constipation
- Lowering elevated cholesterol levels
- Managing hemorrhoids (piles)
- Easing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Reducing blood glucose levels
Ispergul also promotes easy bowel movements and smooth stool, making it beneficial for conditions such as anal fissures, colon cancer recovery, post-anal and rectal surgery, and during pregnancy.
Composition
Each spoonful contains 3.5 gm of Psyllium husk, an active ingredient that, when mixed with water, forms a gel to relieve constipation and regulate bowel movements.
Description
Psyllium Husk acts as a mild laxative rich in 80% soluble fiber. Its main component, mucilage, is particularly effective in chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, and colon cancer. It also soothes the gastric and intestinal mucosa, making it suitable for relieving gastric irritation and ulceration. Psyllium helps lower LDL cholesterol levels and reduces blood glucose, benefiting obese and diabetic patients.
Dosage
Recommended dosage:
- Adults and children over 12 years: 1 spoonful with water, twice daily or as directed.
- Children 6 to 12 years: ½ to 1 spoonful with water, depending on age and size, in the morning and at bedtime.
- Not recommended for children under 6 years, unless prescribed by a physician. Drink an additional glass of water after taking the gel.
Administration
Take one spoonful provided with the product, place in an empty glass, add 150 ml of water (2/3 of the glass), stir, and drink immediately.
Interaction
No significant interactions observed with other medications.
Contraindications
Avoid in patients with gastrointestinal tract obstruction or risk of bowel obstruction.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include flatulence, abdominal distension, and potential gastrointestinal obstruction.
