Iriban is a musculotropic antispasmodic that alleviates cramps and spasms in the stomach and intestines. It is particularly effective for managing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and similar conditions. By relaxing the gut muscles, it helps restore normal gastrointestinal movement.
Dosage & Administration
For adults, elderly patients, and children over 10 years:
- Mebeverine Hydrochloride 135 mg tablet: 1 tablet three times daily.
- Mebeverine Hydrochloride 200 mg capsule: 1 capsule twice daily.
For optimal results, take the medication 20 minutes before meals. After achieving the desired effect over several weeks, the dosage may be gradually reduced.
Missed dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it’s close to the time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Not recommended for children under 10 years.

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Mebeverine or any of its components.
Side Effects
Iriban is generally well tolerated. However, minor side effects such as skin rash, urticaria, and angioedema may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Animal studies show no teratogenic effects. Nonetheless, standard precautions should be followed when administering any medication during pregnancy. Mebeverine is not excreted in breast milk at therapeutic doses.

Overdose Effects
Theoretically, CNS excitability may occur with overdose. There is no specific antidote; gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment are recommended.
