This medication is designed to reduce corneal swelling associated with specific eye conditions.
Pharmacology
The 5% Sodium Chloride Ophthalmic Solution is a hypertonic solution that effectively alleviates corneal edema. By creating a difference in tonicity, this solution draws excess fluid out of the cornea, reducing swelling.
Dosage & Administration
Apply 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 3 to 4 hours, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to any component of the solution.
Side Effects
Temporary blurring or instability in vision may occur after application. Exercise caution with tasks requiring sharp vision, such as driving. Initial application may cause burning or irritation. If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience redness, pain, swelling around the eyes, vision changes, light sensitivity, or headaches. Report any other unexpected effects to your healthcare provider.
Precautions & Warnings
Inform your doctor if you have a history of eye issues or allergies. Use this medication cautiously during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor to weigh the benefits and risks. If symptoms do not improve or worsen within a few days, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
In case of a missed dose, use it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Avoid doubling up on doses.
