Indications
This eye gel is designed to serve as a lubricant, providing relief from irritation and discomfort caused by dryness of the eyes or environmental factors such as wind or sun exposure.
Always consult a registered healthcare professional before using this medication.
Composition
Each milliliter (ml) of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium sterile eye gel drops contains:
- Active Ingredient: Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium USP – 10 mg
- Preservative: Purite – 0.0075%
Pharmacology
Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium acts as an ocular lubricant, helping to alleviate symptoms associated with moderate to severe dry eye syndrome (DES). This formulation mimics the properties of natural tears, providing long-lasting protection against dryness and irritation. The preservative used is mild and non-sensitizing, eventually breaking down into components similar to those found in natural tears. The pharmacological action of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium is not mediated by receptors; rather, it enhances viscosity, increasing the retention time of the eye drop on the ocular surface.
