Indications

This medication is indicated for the treatment of various infections, including upper respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is also effective against urinary tract infections caused by E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella species, as well as skin and soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococci and Streptococci.

Description

This product is an acid-stable and semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, ensuring sustained concentration levels in urine, effectively combating susceptible bacterial pathogens.

Pharmacology

The active ingredient in this medication works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. By binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), it disrupts the final step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial cell death.

Dosage & Administration

For adults, specific dosages are recommended based on the type of infection. For example, for pharyngitis and tonsillitis, a daily dose of 1 g in one or two divided doses is suggested.
