Description
Florium contains Flunarizine, a difluorinated derivative of cinnarizine. As a selective calcium channel antagonist, it reduces excessive calcium influx in cells, preventing overload while maintaining normal calcium balance. Flunarizine also exhibits mild antihistaminic and sedative effects, with a high affinity for plasma proteins.

Interactions
Some women on oral contraceptives may experience galactorrhea within the first two months of treatment. Hepatic enzyme inducers like carbamazepine and phenytoin may enhance the metabolism of Florium, potentially necessitating dosage adjustments.
Contraindications
Do not use in individuals with hypersensitivity to Flunarizine, a history of depression, or pre-existing Parkinson’s disease or other extrapyramidal disorders.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include drowsiness, fatigue, weight gain, and increased appetite. Chronic use may lead to depression, particularly in those with a history of depressive disorders, and extrapyramidal symptoms, especially in the elderly. Less frequent reactions include heartburn, nausea, gastralgia, insomnia, anxiety, galactorrhea, dry mouth, muscle aches, and skin rashes.
Pregnancy & Lactation
The safety of Florium during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Use with caution.
Precautions & Warnings
Florium may cause drowsiness, particularly when combined with alcohol or other CNS depressants. Caution is advised when driving or performing tasks requiring alertness. It is not intended for aborting migraine attacks, and dosage should not be increased in anticipation of an attack. Use with caution in elderly patients and those predisposed to extrapyramidal or depressive symptoms.
