Flonasin

Indications:

Azelastine and Fluticasone Nasal Spray provides relief for seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients aged 6 years and older, requiring treatment with both Azelastine Hydrochloride and Fluticasone Propionate.

Pharmacology:

Azelastine Hydrochloride acts as a histamine H1-receptor antagonist, while Fluticasone Propionate, a corticosteroid, exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. Together, they target multiple inflammatory mediators involved in allergic rhinitis symptoms.

Dosage:

• Adult: Administer one spray into each nostril twice daily.
• Pediatric: Safety and effectiveness not established for children under 6 years.

Administration:

Instructions for Nasal Spray Use:

• Shake gently before use.
• Insert nasal applicator, spray into nostril while inhaling, and repeat for the other nostril.
• Clean nasal spray weekly by washing components in warm water and air drying.

Contraindications:

There are no known contraindications for Azelastine and Fluticasone Nasal Spray.

Side Effects:

Common adverse reactions include dysgeusia, epistaxis, and headache.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Category C in pregnancy; caution advised during breastfeeding due to potential excretion in breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:

Avoid activities requiring mental alertness and concurrent use of CNS depressants. Discontinue gradually if hypercorticism or adrenal suppression occurs.

Overdose Effects:

No reported overdoses with Azelastine Hydrochloride; chronic Fluticasone Propionate overdose may cause symptoms of hypercorticism.
