Indications
FizyCal-D effervescent tablets are indicated for:
- The prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies.
- Serving as calcium and vitamin D supplements in conjunction with specific therapies for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in individuals at risk of these deficiencies.
Composition
Each effervescent tablet contains:
- Calcium Lactate Gluconate: 1358.196 mg
- Calcium Carbonate BP: 1050 mg (equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium)
- Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol BP): 400 IU
Pharmacology
Maintaining adequate calcium levels in the blood is essential for numerous bodily functions, as our biochemistry cannot tolerate deficiencies, even briefly. Clinical research indicates that calcium plays a critical role in preventing and treating osteoporosis and related fractures. Vitamin D is vital for bone health, enhancing calcium absorption in the gastrointestinal tract and promoting bone formation. Studies have shown that calcium and vitamin D work synergistically to support bone growth and prevent osteoporosis and fractures.
Dosage & Administration
The recommended dosage is 1-2 tablets per day, preferably one tablet each morning and evening, or as directed by a physician. Dissolve a tablet in a glass of water, where it will effervesce within 1-2 minutes. Consume the solution immediately.
Consult your registered physician before using this medication.
Interactions
FizyCal-D may interact with medications such as digoxin, antacids containing calcium, aluminum, or magnesium, other calcium supplements, calcitriol, tetracycline, doxycycline, aminocycline, and oxytetracycline. Consultation with a physician is advised when taking this supplement alongside these drugs.

- Hypercalcemia or hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria or nephrolithiasis

Side Effects
Oral administration of calcium carbonate may irritate the gastrointestinal tract and can lead to constipation. While hypercalcemia is rarely caused by calcium alone, it may occur with high doses in patients with chronic renal failure. Other potential side effects include allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, drowsiness, and skin rash.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This effervescent tablet is safe for use during pregnancy if calcium and vitamin D deficiencies are present. However, for supplementation starting in the third trimester, daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg of calcium and 1000 IU of vitamin D. FizyCal-D is also suitable for use during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
In cases of hypercalcemia, discontinuing the medication typically restores normal serum calcium levels. Caution is advised when administering calcium salts to patients with sarcoidosis, renal or cardiac conditions, or those taking cardiac glycosides. Patients with a history of kidney stones should increase fluid intake.
Overdose Effects
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, severe drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, metallic taste, stomach cramps, unconsciousness, diarrhea, weakness, headache, constipation, dizziness, or irritability. The most serious risk of acute or chronic overdose is hypocalcemia due to vitamin D toxicity.
