Indications:
Fixolin is prescribed for:
- Bronchial asthma
- Bronchospasm
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Pulmonary diseases with a spastic bronchial component
Pharmacology:
Doxophylline, a novel bronchodilator, selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase 4, relaxing bronchial smooth muscle without affecting adenosine receptors like Theophylline. It also inhibits platelet activating factor (PAF) and leukotriene production.
Dosage & Administration:
For Elderly: Take 200 mg tablet two or three times daily. For Adults: Take 400 mg tablet two or three times daily, or as directed. For Children:

12 years: 10 ml syrup or 200 mg tablet two or three times daily.
- 6-12 years: 6-9 mg/kg body weight twice daily.
Interaction:
Avoid concurrent use with xanthine preparations or caffeine-containing products. Caution with sympathomimetic drugs and drugs affecting hepatic metabolism.
Contraindications:
Avoid in hypersensitivity to doxophylline or xanthine derivatives, acute myocardial infarction, hypotension, and lactation.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, and cardiac symptoms. Discontinue in case of severe reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation due to insufficient clinical data.
