Indications
Famotack is indicated in various gastrointestinal conditions, including gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, acute stress ulcer, reflux esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also serves as a treatment for acute gastritis and chronic gastritis during acute exacerbation.
Pharmacology
Famotack, containing famotidine, acts as a histamine H2-receptor antagonist, effectively blocking histamine’s action on the H2-receptors of parietal cells. It significantly inhibits basal, overnight, and pentagastrin-stimulated gastric acid secretion. The H2-receptor antagonist activity of Famotack is gradual and long-lasting, ensuring sustained relief.
Dosage & Administration
For tablets, the recommended dosage for adults varies depending on the condition: 20 mg twice daily for gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, reflux esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome; or 40 mg orally once daily at bedtime. For acute gastritis and chronic gastritis during exacerbation, adults typically take 20 mg orally twice a day or 40 mg once daily before bedtime, with dosage adjustments as per age and symptoms.
For suspension powder, dosages differ based on age and condition, ranging from 0.5 mg/kg/dose to 2 mg/kg/day, administered orally once or twice daily, up to a maximum of 40 mg/day for various gastrointestinal disorders.

Famotack exhibits no significant interactions with other drugs, as it does not affect the cytochrome P450-linked drug-metabolizing enzyme system.
