Indications:
- Erian is prescribed for the treatment of:
- Internal and external hemorrhoids
- Post-partum hemorrhoids
- Anal pruritus, peri-anal eczema, anal fissures, and proctitis
- Post-hemorrhoidectomy application to relieve pain and discomfort
Composition:
Each gram of ointment contains:
- Cinchocaine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg
- Hydrocortisone BP 5 mg
- Framycetin Sulphate BP 10.5 mg
- Esculin Ph. grade 10 mg
Each suppository contains:
- Cinchocaine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg
- Hydrocortisone BP 5 mg
- Framycetin Sulphate BP 10 mg
- Esculin Ph. grade 10 mg
Pharmacology:
Cinchocaine Hydrochloride acts as a local anesthetic to alleviate severe pain associated with hemorrhoids and anal conditions. Hydrocortisone functions as a decongestant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-pruritic agent, relieving itching, inflammation, and mucous discharge. Framycetin Sulphate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic to treat or prevent infections in the anorectal area. Esculin offers a protective action on the skin.
Dosage & Administration:
Ointment: Apply a small quantity to the affected area morning and evening and after each stool. For deep application, insert the cannula or applicator and squeeze gently while withdrawing. Suppository: Insert morning and evening and after each stool.
Contraindications:
Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or with herpes simplex, vaccinia, varicella, or tuberculous infection of the anal region. Avoid use during pregnancy.
Side Effects:
Prolonged use may lead to skin atrophic changes, including thinning, loss of elasticity, and telangiectasia. Systemic absorption may occur, especially with potent corticosteroids, potentially causing adrenal suppression and growth retardation.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy should be avoided unless deemed necessary by a healthcare professional.
Precautions & Warnings:
Discontinue use if sensitization occurs. Caution against prolonged use to prevent systemic corticosteroid effects.
Use in Special Populations:
Not recommended for use in children.
