Indications:
Duolax is indicated for:
- Constipation
- Hyperacidity with constipation
- Anorectal disorders
- Post-operative constipation
- Constipation associated with chronic cholecystitis
- Hernia
Pharmacology:
Duolax features a dual-relief formulation containing a gentle laxative and lubricant to ease discomfort during bowel movements, providing temporary relief from constipation.
Dosage & Administration:
Recommended oral doses:
- Adults: 15-30 ml before breakfast or bedtime.
- Children:
- Over 7 years: 7.5 ml – 15 ml at bedtime.
- 3-7 years: 5 ml – 10 ml at bedtime. The dose can be mixed with milk or half a glass of water if desired. Use for more than one week only under medical supervision.
Interaction:
Cimetidine, diuretics, famotidine, and ranitidine may irritate the stomach or bowel.
Contraindications:
Avoid in acute gastrointestinal conditions such as abdominal pain.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include rectal irritation and potassium loss (symptoms may include thirst, weakness, nausea, and diarrhea).
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. Maintain adequate fluid intake.
Overdose Effects:
No reported cases of overdosage.
