Indications
This medication is used to alleviate symptoms associated with dyspepsia, heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), and hiatal hernia. It is also prescribed for managing hyperacidity related to peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis. If necessary, it can be administered to children. Additionally, it provides relief from flatulence, abdominal bloating, and colicky discomfort.
Pharmacology
This formula combines magaldrate and simethicone. Magaldrate, a magnesium-aluminum compound (Hydroxymagnesium Aluminate), works swiftly to neutralize stomach acid without raising pH levels above 5-6, also reducing pepsin activity in gastric secretions. Simethicone, the second key ingredient, helps gas bubbles merge, offering relief from bloating and gas discomfort.
Dosage & Administration
- Tablets: Chew 1-4 tablets 20 to 60 minutes after meals or at bedtime, or as prescribed by a physician.
- Suspension: Take 2-4 teaspoons (10-20 ml) 20 to 60 minutes after meals or before sleep, or as directed by a doctor.
