Indications
For Cerebral Circulatory Disorders:
- Recommended for preventing and managing symptoms associated with cerebral vascular spasms and arteriosclerosis, including dizziness, tinnitus, vascular headaches, mood disturbances, fatigue, sleep disturbances, memory loss, and concentration issues, particularly in aging individuals.
- Also beneficial for managing complications arising from cerebral and cranial trauma, post-stroke conditions, and migraines.
For Peripheral Circulatory Disorders:
- Effective in preventing and managing symptoms of vascular spasms and arteriosclerosis, such as intermittent claudication, trophic disturbances, ulcers, paraesthesia, and cold extremities, among others, related to various conditions including diabetes and Raynaud’s disease.
For Balance Disorders:
- Recommended for preventing and managing symptoms of labyrinthine arteriosclerosis, vestibular irritability, and Meniere’s syndrome, including vertigo, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.
- Also effective in preventing motion sickness.
Pharmacology
- This medication combines Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate, belonging to different pharmacological groups, namely calcium antagonists and antihistamines, respectively. Together, they alleviate symptoms of vertigo and nausea more effectively than when used individually.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults are advised to take one tablet three times a day after meals. Not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years old. Dosage for the elderly is the same as for adults.
Interactions
- Caution is advised when using alcohol, CNS depressants, or tricyclic antidepressants concurrently, as they may enhance the sedative effects of Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate.
Contraindications
- Patients with severe hepatic impairment or hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or excipients should avoid using Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate. Additionally, it is contraindicated in conditions such as angle-closure glaucoma, convulsions, and suspected raised intracranial pressure.
Side Effects
- Common side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, and stomach pain. Rare side effects may include impaired vision, allergic reactions, and difficulty in urination. Other potential reactions include weight gain, constipation, and severe skin reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid using this medication during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
- While Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate do not significantly reduce blood pressure, caution is advised in hypotensive patients. It should be taken after meals to minimize gastric irritation and used cautiously in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Overdose Effects
- Overdose may result in symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, and anticholinergic effects. General supportive measures should be taken to manage respiratory and circulatory issues.
