Indications
This product is intended for treating and preventing deficiencies of zinc and vitamin B.
Composition: Each 5 ml of syrup contains:
- Thiamine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg
- Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium BP 2.74 mg (equivalent to Riboflavin 2 mg)
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 2 mg
- Nicotinamide BP 20 mg
- Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP 27.45 mg (equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg)
Each tablet contains the same ingredients as above.
Pharmacology
Zinc is essential for numerous biological functions, including immunity enhancement, wound healing, digestion, reproduction, and mental development. It acts as an antioxidant and aids in treating ADHD in children. Deficiency in adults may lead to symptoms such as loss of appetite, depression, frequent infections, and poor wound healing.
B-Vitamins are crucial for energy release from food and play a vital role in brain and nerve function, as well as red blood cell formation. Deficiency symptoms include fatigue, neurologic manifestations, and various physical symptoms.
Dosage & Administration
- Syrup:
- Adults: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 2 to 3 times daily or as directed.
- Children: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 1 to 3 times daily or as directed.
- Infants: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 1 to 2 times daily or as directed.
- Tablet:
- Adults & Children over 30 kg: 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 3 times daily or as directed.
Interactions
Zinc may interact with certain medications such as tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones, affecting their absorption levels. Caution is advised with concomitant use of niacin and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors.
Contraindications
Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredients in this product.
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated; potential side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach upset.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Safe for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
Adjust dosage in acute renal failure to avoid zinc accumulation. Not suitable for treating severe specific deficiencies.
Overdose Effects
In case of overdose, symptoms may include epigastric pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention.
