Indications
Bestron is prescribed for managing moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause. Additionally, it helps prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Pharmacology
The active ingredients in Bestron, Conjugated Estrogens, and Bazedoxifene, work by binding to estrogen receptors (ER) α and β. Bazedoxifene functions as a selective estrogen receptor modulator, acting as an estrogen agonist in certain tissues and an antagonist in others, such as the uterus.
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage: Take Bestron once daily, with or without food.
- Instructions: Swallow the tablets whole.
- Additional Supplements: Women taking Bestron for osteoporosis prevention should ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake if their daily diet lacks these nutrients.
Note: Bestron is not suitable for use in children.

Drug Interactions
- Bestron has not been studied extensively for drug interactions.
- Caution: Estrogens are partially metabolized by CYP3A4. Taking Bestron alongside CYP3A4 inhibitors may elevate estrogen levels, increasing the risk of endometrial hyperplasia.
Contraindications
Do not use Bestron if you have:
- Unexplained abnormal uterine bleeding
- A history or suspicion of breast cancer
- Estrogen-dependent tumors
- Active or past cases of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, or arterial thromboembolism
- Known liver impairment or thrombophilic disorders
- Hypersensitivity to estrogens, Bazedoxifene, or any ingredients in the formulation
Side Effects
Potential side effects may include:
- High blood pressure, blood clots, liver dysfunction, and thyroid issues
- Fluid retention, low calcium levels, or dementia
- Unusual vaginal bleeding, breast lumps, or severe headaches
- Muscle spasms, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, throat pain, diarrhea, or weakness
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category: X – Bestron must not be used during pregnancy.
- Lactation: This medication should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers, as it may affect milk production and quality.
Precautions & Warnings
- Bestron should not be used to prevent cardiovascular diseases or dementia.
- Women with a uterus using unopposed estrogen therapy face a higher risk of developing endometrial cancer.
Overdose Management
In case of an overdose, treatment is symptomatic as there is no specific antidote. Common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, breast tenderness, fatigue, and abdominal discomfort. Withdrawal bleeding may occur.

Storage Instructions
