Indications
Benostar mouthwash effectively treats various painful conditions of the throat and mouth, including sore throat, sore tongue or gums, mouth ulcers, discomfort from dentures, and pain following dental surgery.
Composition
Each milliliter of Benzydamine Hydrochloride mouthwash contains 1.5 mg of the active ingredient.
Pharmacology
Benzydamine Hydrochloride is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) known for its analgesic and local anesthetic properties. It acts locally, providing targeted pain relief in the mouth and throat without significant systemic absorption, thus minimizing side effects.
Dosage & Administration
Use 15 ml of Benzydamine mouthwash every 1.5-3 hours, rinsing or gargling for 20-30 seconds. Dilute with water if stinging occurs. Not recommended for children under 12 years unless advised by a healthcare professional.
Contraindications
Avoid using Benzydamine mouthwash if allergic to Benzydamine or any components. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse immediately with cold water if contact occurs.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include minor reactions such as itchy rash (urticaria), numbness, and temporary stinging in the mouth. Serious allergic reactions are rare but may require medical attention.
