Indications
Ascobex (Ascorbic Acid) is recommended for:
- Prevention and treatment of scurvy.
- Promoting wound and bone healing.
- Supporting collagen formation in connective tissues.

Pharmacology
Ascobex provides essential Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), which must be acquired through diet or supplements. This vital nutrient supports tissue repair, adrenal gland function, immune system enhancement, and healthy gums. As an antioxidant, it protects against pollution and infections while reducing cellular damage. As a coenzyme, Vitamin C is crucial for wound healing, drug metabolism, and the metabolism of cholesterol and folic acid. It supports overall health by promoting healthy hair and skin, bolstering the immune system, and ensuring overall well-being.

Interaction
Ascorbic acid is incompatible with substances such as aminophylline, bleomycin, erythromycin, and several others. It enhances the half-life of paracetamol and improves iron absorption.
Side Effects
Ascobex generally has low toxicity, but high doses may cause diarrhea, abdominal bloating, iron over-absorption, hyperoxaluria, and hyperuricosuria. Excessive intake during pregnancy may lead to fetal abortion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Ascobex is safe at normal doses during pregnancy, but doses exceeding 5 g/day may cause abortion. It is safe for use during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
High doses (over 1000 mg daily) during pregnancy can cause scurvy in newborns. It is contraindicated for patients with hyperoxaluria. Ascorbic acid may cause false positive results in tests for glucose, uric acid, creatine, and occult blood.
