Indications
Patadin Eye Drops:
Patadin eye drops are recommended for managing the symptoms associated with allergic conjunctivitis, including itchy, watery, red, and swollen eyes and/or eyelids. This includes conditions such as vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal keratitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and giant papillary conjunctivitis.
Alacot Nasal Spray:
Alacot Nasal Spray, an H1 receptor antagonist, is indicated for alleviating the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in both adults and children aged 6 and above.
Alacot Tablet:
Alacot tablet is prescribed for treating allergic rhinitis and allergic skin conditions. It effectively alleviates allergy symptoms such as skin rashes, swelling, hives, itching, sneezing, and a runny or stuffy nose.
Pharmacology
Olopatadine, an antihistamine, functions by inhibiting the action of histamine in the body, thereby reducing allergy symptoms. It treats sneezing, itching, runny nose, and other nasal allergy symptoms.
Mode of Action:
Olopatadine, acting as an anti-allergic agent, stabilizes mast cells, inhibiting the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators. It acts as a selective antagonist at histamine H1 receptors, effectively blocking the signaling pathway and reducing the release of inflammatory substances.
Pharmacokinetics:
Olopatadine is readily absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations typically observed within 30 minutes to 1 hour after intranasal administration. It exhibits moderate protein binding in human serum and is primarily eliminated through urinary excretion.
