Composition
Each sachet for 500 ml preparation contains:
- Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm
Pharmacology
ACI ORS is a glucose-based oral rehydration solution composed of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium citrate (dihydrate), and anhydrous glucose. It is formulated to effectively prevent or treat dehydration caused by diarrhea, including conditions like cholera, in individuals of all age groups. Additionally, it helps prevent acidosis associated with electrolyte imbalances during dehydration.
Dosage
The daily dosage should match the patient’s fluid requirements for both maintenance and replenishment of losses. It is important for mothers to continue breastfeeding, and for adults to maintain normal food intake during treatment.
- Children under 2 years: 50-100 mL (10 to 20 teaspoonfuls) after each loose stool or vomiting.
- Children aged 2-10 years: 100-200 mL (1/2 to 1 glass) after each loose stool or vomiting.
- Adults and children over 10 years: 200-400 mL (1 to 2 glasses) after each loose stool or vomiting.

Administration
- Dissolve the entire contents of one sachet in 500 mL (1/2 liter) of clean drinking water.
- Do not mix the solution with hot water or heat the prepared solution.
- Discard any unused oral saline after 12 hours of preparation.
