- Prophylaxis of gastric and duodenal ulcers in high-risk NSAID users, including the elderly, those with debilitating diseases, or those with a history of ulcers.
- Healing of NSAID-induced gastric and duodenal damage.
- Healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers in patients not using NSAIDs.
- Induction of labor for women with medical indications.
- Prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage.
Note: Always follow the guidance of a registered healthcare professional when using Cytomis.
Pharmacology of Cytomis
Cytomis contains Misoprostol, a compound that is rapidly absorbed and converted into its active form, Misoprostol acid. This active metabolite is responsible for its therapeutic effects, including antisecretory actions (reducing gastric acid secretion) and mucosal protection. Misoprostol increases bicarbonate and mucus production, which helps protect the gastric lining from NSAID-induced damage. The exact mechanism of ulcer prevention is likely due to both its antisecretory and mucosal protective properties.
