Description
Norash Ointment contains pantothenic acid, a vital component for maintaining normal epithelial function. This stable alcoholic derivative of pantothenic acid provides excellent skin penetration and achieves high local concentrations when applied with an appropriate vehicle, such as water-in-oil emulsions. Topically applied Norash functions as a moisturizer, enhancing hydration in the stratum corneum, minimizing trans-epidermal water loss, and preserving skin softness and elasticity.
Pharmacology
Dexpanthenol, the active ingredient in Norash, is an alcohol derivative of pantothenic acid, classified within the B complex vitamins and crucial for healthy epithelial function. It is enzymatically converted into pantothenic acid, an essential part of Coenzyme A, which serves as a cofactor in numerous enzymatic reactions critical to protein metabolism in epithelial cells.
The dermatological benefits of dexpanthenol include promoting fibroblast proliferation and accelerating re-epithelialization during wound healing. Additionally, it acts as a topical protectant and moisturizer while exhibiting anti-inflammatory properties.
Dosage & Administration
If you are unsure about how to use Dexpanthenol, consult your doctor or pharmacist for guidance.
The typical dosage recommendations are as follows:
- Diaper Rash: Apply a thin layer to the baby’s bottom at every diaper change.
- Nipples: Apply a thin layer to the nipples after each breastfeeding session. Ensure to wash the nipples thoroughly before the next feeding.
- Dry/Cracked Skin or Light Wounds: Apply to affected areas or wounds up to three times daily.
Avoid exceeding the recommended dosage and do not ingest. This ointment is meant for external application only.
Always follow the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
