Pharmacology
This product features two types of active ingredients:
Benzalkonium Chloride and Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride act as antimicrobials, helping to:
- Eliminate bacteria on the skin that can exacerbate eczema.
- Prevent infections caused by scratching itchy skin.
Liquid Paraffin and Isopropyl Myristate serve as emollients, aiding in:
- Softening, moisturizing, and protecting the skin by sealing in moisture and restoring its natural barrier.
- Mitigating skin dryness and irritation often caused by washing, bathing, or using soaps and foaming agents found in regular skin cleansing products.
This lotion can be used alongside any additional emollients or treatments prescribed by your healthcare provider for managing dry skin conditions.
Dosage
For Adults, Children, and the Elderly:
- Topical Application: Apply the lotion to affected areas as needed, gently massaging it into the skin until fully absorbed.
- As a Soap Substitute: Use this lotion as a cleanser during bathing or showering, replacing regular soap or shower gel.
Always use this product as directed by a registered healthcare professional.
Administration
This lotion is for external use only. For optimal results, use regularly and as often as necessary.

For Leave-On Application:
- Apply the lotion to the affected areas.
- Smooth gently into the skin and allow any excess to absorb; avoid vigorous rubbing.
- Reapply as needed. If using another treatment, apply separately, allowing time for each to soak in.
As a Soap Substitute:

- After washing, gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel, avoiding rubbing to prevent aggravating dry skin.
Always use this product as directed by a registered healthcare professional.

Contraindications
Do not use this lotion if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any other ingredients in the formulation.
Side Effects
As with any medication, side effects may occur, although not everyone experiences them. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following reactions: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; sudden red itchy rash (hives) away from the application site; wheezing or difficulty breathing; dizziness; unusual metallic taste; or fainting. These may indicate a serious allergic reaction. Emobac is specifically formulated for use on dry or problem skin areas anywhere on the body. Rarely, skin reactions such as redness, irritation, or itching may occur in treated areas, especially with excessive use on folded skin regions like the groin or diaper area.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This product is considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Its ingredients have been widely used in similar formulations for many years without reported complications; however, safety trials have not been conducted.
Precautions & Warnings
As with any medication, severe allergic reactions can occur. Very rare instances of such reactions leading to drops in blood pressure and loss of consciousness have been reported with chlorhexidine-containing products. Avoid using this lotion if you have previously experienced issues with chlorhexidine.
Fire Hazard: Do not smoke or go near open flames; Emobac can increase the flammability of fabrics (e.g., clothing, bedding, dressings) that have come into contact with it. Washing these items may reduce product accumulation but may not eliminate it completely.
Additional Care:
- For individuals with very sensitive skin, it’s advisable to conduct a patch test on a small area before applying more broadly, especially on the face or for young children.
- Avoid contact with the eyes, particularly when applying to the face.
- When used in baths or showers, this lotion can make surfaces slippery; use caution to prevent slips.
Note: Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis). Consult your doctor before using Emobac if you have a history of local skin reactions to any ingredients.
