Indications

Norvis is an antispasmodic medication designed to alleviate muscle spasms in the intestines, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is prescribed for symptomatic relief of pain associated with functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system. Additionally, Norvis is indicated for managing spasm and pain in urological and gynecological conditions.

Pharmacology

Tiemonium Methylsulphate, the active ingredient in Norvis, acts as a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine. It enhances the bonding of calcium with membrane phospholipids and proteins, thereby inhibiting intracellular contractile proteins in visceral cells. This mechanism effectively reduces visceral spasm and associated pain.

Dosage & Administration

Norvis is available in tablet, syrup, injection, and suppository forms. The typical adult dose ranges from 2 to 6 tablets or 3 to 9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily, divided into several doses. For children, the dosage is based on body weight, generally 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg daily in divided doses. Injection and suppository dosages should be administered as directed by a healthcare provider.

Norvis tablets should not be combined with other medications without consulting a registered physician due to the potential for drug interactions.

Contraindications

Norvis is contraindicated in individuals with urethroprostatic disorders at risk of urine retention and those susceptible to angle closure glaucoma.
