Indications
This tablet serves for:
- Managing moderate to moderately severe pain in adults.
- Short-term (five days or less) management of acute pain.
Pharmacology
Paracetamol possesses analgesic and antipyretic properties with mild anti-inflammatory effects. Acting primarily in the CNS, it raises the pain threshold by inhibiting various cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis. Paracetamol, a para aminophenol derivative, is recognized for its analgesic and antipyretic efficacy with minimal inflammatory impact. It stands out as one of the most widely used, safe, and fast-acting analgesics, well-tolerated with fewer side effects compared to aspirin.
Tramadol, a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic, operates through mechanisms not entirely elucidated. Animal studies suggest two complementary mechanisms: binding to μ-opioid receptors by both the parent compound and its M1 metabolite, along with weak inhibition of norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake. These actions contribute to its overall analgesic profile.
