Indications
Xylocon is indicated for treating nasal congestion linked with acute or chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, common cold, upper respiratory allergies, hay fever, and epistaxis. It also acts as a nasal decongestant in otitis media.
Pharmacology
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride, an imidazoline derivative sympathomimetic amine, acts as a direct agonist at α-adrenoceptors. It induces rapid and prolonged vasoconstriction of arterioles on the nasal mucosa, reducing blood flow and mucosal swelling, thereby improving airway potency and nasal sinus drainage.

- Adults and children (6 years and older): 2 or 3 sprays in each nostril twice daily for 3-5 days.
- Elderly: No dosage reduction required.
- Children under 6 years: Not recommended.
